[BEAUTY]: Dermalogica UltraCalming Duo

When it comes to the Dermalogica brand, I’ve always been a fan since I used their Dynamic Skin Recovery which is a SPF 50 day cream. I then heard about the UltraCalming range on one of my favourite bloggers Instagram Stories (Marianna Hewitt from Life With Me) plus I know that they are cruelty free! So I was excited to have received the new UltraCalming Duo which consists of the Barrier Defense Booster and the Calm Water Gel. 

First up I’m going to chat about the Barrier Defense Booster  which is a concentrated oil booster to help nourish and protect your skin. It also helps restore balance to sensitive skin. Made from a combination of the following oils, Oil Oil; Kiwi Seed Oil; Cotton Seed Oil; Grape Seed Oil; Walnut Seed Oil; Cranberry Seed Oil; Lavender Oil; Eucalyptus Oil as well as Squalene, you can understand why this is such a concentrated oil.

It’s recommended to use 6-10 drops of this oil either before your apply your moisturizer or you can even mix it into your moisturizer twice a day. Personally, I feel that just a few drops on it’s own at night is enough for my skin. However, if you suffer from really sensitive skin, it’s recommended that you use this twice a day to help build up your skins barrier defense and stop the irritation before it occurs.

This concentrated oil booster retails for R1220.00 for 30ml.

Next up we have have the UltraCalming Calm Water Gel which I think is actually my favourite from these two products. While I love how nourished my skin feels from the Barrier Defense Booster, I use this Calm Water Gel twice a day and have already decided that I’m packing it in my cabin luggage for my next long flight! For me, it’s very similar to the Urban Decay Hot Springs Hydrating Gel , ever since I’ve been using that product, I much prefer a light gel instead of a day cream so that’s why I’ve been so impressed with this product in particular.

This weightless water gel formula instantly hydrates your skin but doesn’t leave a sticky feeling behind, instead it’s applies like silk while forming a barrier to help protect your skin. I’ve found that it works so well under a primer before you apply your makeup and like I said, the hydration factor of this product is just perfect for a long flight!

Made from ingredients such as Apple Fruit Extract and Glycerin to help hydrate and soften while defending skin against dryness as well as Cactus Pear Extract to helps soothe sensitivity, this product is not only great for those with normal skin, but fantastic for sensitive skin.
