Sometimes life can feel like it’s going at 100 miles a minute (which is why I’ve been so quiet on the blog lately), and in those moments it can feel like you have no control.
I’ve learned that when everything feels overwhelming, taking a deep breath and clearing a little space in your environment can help, not just to feel better about your home, but to create mental clarity too.
Here are 8 easy, realistic things you can implement in your day-to-day to make your home space feel better.
- Make Your Bed As Soon as you wake up – it’s a habit I’ve formed and I can’t leave my room without my bed being made up. Granted, not always with all the scatter cushions but at least it’s still tidy.
- Clear One Surface – Not the whole house. Just one surface: bedside table, kitchen counter, coffee table. Small wins still count.
- Light a candle – In case it wasn’t obvious, I LOVE candles and will always indulge in having one lit in the evenings. It instantly makes my home feel calmer and more inviting.
- Rinse dishes after eating – even when I film my cocktail videos, as soon as I’ve finished the filming, I rinse out the glasses and pack away my equipment. It stops mess from piling up and makes the space feel lighter straight away.
- Stop using your chair as a collection point – I’m very guilty of using my dining room table as a dumping ground and sometimes have to actively force myself to clear it. Once it’s clear, the whole room feels better.
- Open a window for fresh air – trust me, even 5 minutes can make the world of difference
- Put Something on a Tray – Perfume, keys, oils, candles, a tray instantly make clutter feel intentional and adds a great decor touch.
- Add One Soft Texture – A throw, a cushion, or even a bath mat. Texture instantly makes a space feel warmer and more lived in.
Your home doesn’t have to be perfectly styled or constantly spotless to feel good. Sometimes it’s just about small, intentional habits that bring a little more calm into your day. When life feels busy or overwhelming, creating even the tiniest sense of order in your space can gently remind you that you’re still in control of something, and sometimes, that’s more than enough.
