Lunch at Leopards Leap in Cape Town

What’s a trip to Cape Town without a visit to a wine farm? South Africa is home to so many amazing vineyards, it’s a definite must if you heading down to the Western Cape anytime soon!

On a Sunday afternoon during my last trip to Cape Town (see my post on the day I spent at the Spice Route) we headed to Franschhoek to enjoy a lovely lunch at the Leopards Leap venue. From Wednesday’s to Sunday’s they offer a  Rotisserie-style lunch (very similar to Woolworths Harvest Table). The lunch is a variety of meats in a Rotisol spit style, with a selection of seasonal salads and roasted vegetables sourced from the biologic vegetable and herb garden on the farm. I indulged in the vegetarian options – so delicious! Their dessert table is on another level! It’s so hard to choose what you want, they offer individual portions of delights such as cake lollies, mini cheese-cakes and baby meringues, plus a heavenly chocolate brownie.

A fabulous addition to your lunch is one of their wine cocktails – I could’ve sipped on those all day!

After lunch and a short stroll around the gardens, it was time to taste some of their famous wines.  When I was younger, I always loved my sweet rose’ (now if I even think of that I get a headache haha) but I then starting swaying towards ordering a white wine when I was out. The Leopards Leap Chenin Blanc was and still is one of my favourites and led me to becoming a fan of the Leopards Leap brand. Nowadays my palette leans more towards the drier side with a lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc calling my name.

Another thing I loved about our afternoon spent here was the beautiful design of the buildings, their modern touch and vibrant decor makes it the perfect lunch destination for a weekend event.
