[LIFE]: 3 Life Lessons I’ve Had To Remind Myself Of Lately

Life Always Keeps Me On My Toes

If you read my latest Catching Up With Cassidy post where I chatted about what’s happening in my life lately, you’ll know it’s been a year of ups and downs but through these past few weeks, I’ve been reminded of a few life lessons that I wanted to share with you all.

1. Grief Never Goes Away

Oh man, this is something I’ve had to deal with for a few years and I had a huge reminder of it the other day. During my last trip to Zambia in September, I had some time to reflect. I honestly feel so calm while I’m on the Zambezi River that it’s good to go through those thoughts and memories that you’ve pushed far back in your head. Sometimes I feel fine and at peace about those that I’ve lost, but sometimes that wave of grief just hits you and all those emotions come up again. The aching, the longing, the simple wish of just seeing them again. But you know what, it’s okay to feel like that. I guess it just shows you how much you loved that person and that that love will never die.

2. Don’t Believe Everything You See On Social Media

This is something that I think traps us all. No one will ever put up the photos of themselves without makeup on, no filter, life feeling unraveled. Admit it, we only want to portray the very best of ourselves. Sometimes the worst thing to do when you’re feeling low is going on social media and comparing your life to the picture-perfect scenarios you see. I will 100% admit that I am one of those that chooses to only put up the best. This for me is a reminder of all the things and experiences I have been blessed with. I truly enjoy curating it all and allowing myself to be creative. Plus it does push me to try and do my best with all that I can. But just a reminder, a picture isn’t always what it seems.

3. Your Timeline Is Different To Someone Else’s

With my 30th birthday approaching in a few weeks, I’ve been reflecting on what I’ve done with my life. If you had asked me when I was younger where I thought I’d be at 30, I would have answered that I would be married with 2 or 3 kids. Life doesn’t work like that though. Sometimes I feel like I haven’t done enough but that honestly is just an irrational fear of mine. Everyone’s timeline is so different and I know in my heart that everything happens at the exact right time. I don’t know about you but I love watching Keeping Up with The Kardashian’s, and when I watched the episode of Kourtney turning 40 and not being where she expected in life, I knew that even with all the money in the world, it’s something everyone goes through.
