Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge
A few weeks ago, I was kindly invited by the BMW South Africa team to join them for 2 nights at the Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge. This was to celebrate the national media lunch of the X3 which is very proudly made in Pretoria! Click this link to see my reel on the new BMW x3’s. I absolutely love being in the bush. So I was really looking forward to learning more about the cars but also to enjoying some time at the lodge.

Location – The Pilanesberg Game Reserve

.
Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge is situated in the beautiful Pilanesberg Game Reserve. It lies in an exclusive-use zone in the southwestern portion of the Reserve. It offers guests the Big 5 in the malaria-free zone and has stunning views of the distant bushveld amphitheater. It’s located within the North West Province and is about a 2-hour drive from Pretoria. With an area of 550km², it is the fourth largest park in South Africa. As of today, there are over 7 000 animals, 360 bird species, and more than 200 kilometers of roads.

Accommodation at The Lodge
Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge offers a Standard Suite; Executive Suite and even a Villa. I stayed in the Standards Suite and even that was unreal. I can’t even imagine what the larger rooms must look like. The Standard Suite comprises of a main bedroom with a huge king-sized bed; an outdoor shower and features an en-suite bathroom with a patio overlooking the magnificent Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Perfect view when you are having your morning coffee.

Activities At The Lodge
Part of your package when staying at Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge is that you get to enjoy two guided game drives in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve’s Wilderness Area during the morning and evening in an open 10-seater game viewing vehicle. These outings take three to four hours, with a sundowners stop at sunset, and a coffee stop in the morning.
There is also a gorgeous pool and lounge area with views of the game reserve. Sometimes, if you are lucky, some elephants will come to the drinking hole near the swimming pool. What an amazing experience.
The lodge also has a spa but I didn’t have time to experience that. I’ll definitely add it to my list if I visit there again.

All in all, it was an incredible stay. The food was delicious, the staff were fantastic and it’s definitely somewhere I would want to visit again. I’ll also recommend it to family; friends and readers. You can book online here.
