Two weekends ago, my group of girlfriends and I headed down to Durban for a little weekend away to reminisce on our 10 years of being out of school. I met up with the girls a bit later (I flew straight after work on Friday) and then we flew back on Sunday morning. We all flew with Kulua as their prices were the cheapest, and a girl has got to save where she can! I haven’t been down to Durban in years, so I thought I’d share some of the fun things we did and where we stayed.
Our home for the 2 short nights we were there, was the Urban Park Hotel. We stayed in a 3 bedroom self catering apartment that was so spacious and each room had an en suite bathroom, plus a super comfy bed! We knew we’d be out and about most of the day and night so it made sense to save on accommodation that included food as we just pretty much needed a place to rest our little heads at night.
Below are my top 3 suggestions for a fun weekend in Umhlanga:
1) Go for breakfast at the Oyster Box
Oooooooh my goodness! First of all, I’m obsessed with the Oyster Box. It is such a beautiful hotel and I couldn’t stop gushing over all the beautiful decor and how luxurious it all was. The colour scheme on the outside terrance, matches the lighthouse that you look over at. We went for the breakfast on Saturday and lazed there for most of the morning before moving to the bar upstairs in the afternoon. It’s a fab deal, you pay R240 per person for a continental breakfast that includes unlimited bubbly! Every girl’s dream! The food is delicious and there is such a variety, plus you can indulge in some fresh oysters.
I’m definitely adding this beautiful hotel to my bucket list of places to stay! For more information, visit this link.
2) Visit 14 On Chartwell for a fantastic gin cocktail
Grab your girlfriends and head to 14 On Chartwell. They serve a fantastic range of cocktails, but I would suggest you head straight to the Gin specialties page and order a delicious one for yourself and then get ready to want to taste all of them! We were there on the Friday night as well as for sun-downers on Saturday.
3) Head to The George
If there’s a rugby match on, or you’re just looking for a fun and easy going atmosphere, make your way to The George. It’s a real sports bar vibe but lots of fun. The drinks are cheap, and just keep flowing and everyone is just there to have a good time!
A quick 45 minute flight, I think I need to pop down to Durbz more often! Any recommendations on where else I should visit?
ps: this isn’t a sponsored post, I just wanted to share some of my suggestions with you all.
What do you think?
