It’s a beautiful day when a new Nespresso system is launched! This month saw the launch of the highly anticipated Nespresso Vertuo. This new coffee brewing system offers over 30 unique coffee blends and single origins in a range of 5 cup sizes for coffee lovers to enjoy. Did you catch my last Nespresso post?

The New Coffee Brewing System

The Vertuo system introduces CentrifusionTM technology which allows for different coffee styles at the touch of a button. This intelligent extraction system provides a level of precision as the machine reads a barcode on each capsule and then adjusts the brewing parameters (such as temperature, flow rate, rotational speed, and the time the water is in contact with the coffee) to deliver the result.

The Vertuo is so easy to use! Turn the machine on, and you wait just 30 seconds for it to heat up. Lift the lid, and the machine opens with an electric whir, place the capsule in, press the lid down to close and press the big button on top to start the brewing.

The Vertuo Range

One thing that Nespresso discovered through their research, is that South Africans love a BIG cup of coffee. Luckily for us, the new Vertuo Next range of machines is able to create coffees in 5 serving sizes – Carafe Pour-Over Style (535ml), Signature Coffee Mug (230ml), Gran Lungo (150ml), Double Espresso (80ml) and Espresso (40ml).

The new capsules offer the following:
– One blend in Carafe Pour-Over Style
– Thirteen blends or single origins for Mug size
– Six single origin blends for Gran Lungo size
– Three blends for Double Espresso size
– Seven blends for Espresso size

Sustainability and the Vertuo

Not only is the Vertuo glam, but it’s also a lot greener then previous systems. The machines are made from over 50% recycled plastics and come with a fully recyclable pack made from 99.5% recycled material. This innovative packaging will be rolled out to all Nespresso machines by the end of 2021. How great is that!

Also, did you know that all Nespresso systems are equipped with an energy-saving mode, or an automatic power- off function to minimise energy use?
