When it comes to makeup and skincare, I really love trying out new brands. Especially affordable ones that I know I can add to my baskets when I pop into the stores after I’ve tried out their range. Here are my first impressions on some of their products.

So I know Lamelle isn’t a new brand, but it’s the first time I’m properly trying them out. Before I tell you more about the product, did you know that Lamelle is cruelty free and made locally? I’ve been testing the Correctives 2 Capthepzyme home exfoliation system. First thing that is different about this product compared to normal exfoliators, is that it isn’t an abrasive exfoliator. By using Cathepzyme, it helps the skins normal cell shedding process. It’s gentle on your skin and leaves it feeling smoother just after a 3 minute treatment.

You can find out more information on the Lamelle website.

Next, we have new brand that’s recently come to SA called Mii. I’ve loved each of the 3 products I’ve tested from this brand. Great quality and simple yet beautiful packaging. There is the Powder Perfection Finishing Brush (R550.00) which is one of the softest brushes I’ve ever used. Perfect for applying blushes and bronzers.

The Forever Eye Colour Crayon (in Rose Gold) for R360.00 is a verstatile product that can be used to create a subtle look or a smokey one. It can even be used under your eyes for a dramatic look. It’s easy to blend onto your eyelid and has great staying power. I’m wearing it in the photo at the end of the post.

Lastly from what I’ve been testing from Mii, we have the Celestial Skin Shimmer (R580.00) in Aurora. This beautifully embossed product blends 6 shades to create a gorgeous glow. It’s very pigmented so i find one light sweep of my powder brush is enough.

Thirdly, we have L.O.V which has also recently just made it’s way to South Africa. The PERFECTitude Face Contouring Palette (R247.95) hasn’t been used a lot as I’m not a big fan of contour, no wait, scratch that, I’m just not good at contouring so I don’t attempt it often. This palette does come wuth how-to instructions and has 3 creamy shades to work with so I will attempt it soon.

Then we make our way to the FORBIDDEN Dramatic Volume Mascara (R189.95) which features a hourglass shaped brush that gives lashes good volume and curl. Definitely impressed with this mascara.

Lastly from L.O.V we have the LIPaffair Colour & Care Lipstick in 551 Christina’s Red (R229.95). It’s creamy, pigmented and long lasting plus I think this shade of red will suit all skin tones.

This brand is available at selected Dis-Chem’s and I think I’m going to try one of their foundations next time I go to the stores.

Last but not least, we have the Tangle Teezer Ultimate Finishing Hairbrush (R300.00). I’m a huge fan of Tangle Teezers as my hair gets quite tangled easily and this brush with a handle is just perfect! I use it 24/7 even though it’s meant more for styling hair.

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products I mentioned? Would love to know!
