[TRAVEL]: 5 Nights in Zambia – August 2018

Oh, Zambia! By now, my regular readers will know how much I love Zambia and my time that I spend on the Zambezi River. I flew up at the beginning of August for a few nights to participate in the Lower Zambezi All Species Fishing Competition. 

The competition was held at Gwabi River Lodge, which is where I always stay when I go to the Lower Zambezi. I was really hoping I would have my vlog from the trip up on my YouTube channel but I’m having such issues with the files. Hopefully, I can sort it out soon, as I love looking back on my trips with the vlogs.

What We Go Up To

The competition was for two and a half days and our team ended up coming fourth *yay*. I’m really hoping next year we can make the top three. We all had so much fun though and I can proudly say on behalf of the Zambian Sports Fishing Association that all fish were safely released. We always practice catch and release on the Zambezi River.

The Magic of The Zambezi

As soon as I stepped off the plane in Lusaka (the country’s capital), I felt so happy to be back in Zambia. It’s usually a three-hour long drive down to Chirundu to get to where we stay, but it’s a car ride full of laughs. My absolute favourite feeling though is stepping onto the boat and cruising down the Zambezi River. Total Bliss.

The day after the fishing competition ended, we spent the day fishing and I got to capture some awesome photos of the wildlife. Crocodiles and Hippos are everywhere, something that I urge people to constantly be aware of. You should be lucky enough to also catch a glimpse of my favorite animal, the elephant. We even got to see some of them crossing the river. I could honestly spend hours watching them in their natural habitat.
