Just One Thing
It’s always a good day when a brand commits to more sustainable packaging, and that’s exactly what Orbit has done. In an effort to reduce waste, the brand is changing is packaging to be more sustainable by becoming 100% recyclable. Can I get a high-five right now!
Orbit’s Goals for 2020 and 2025
As part of Mars Incorporated’s global strategy called “Sustainability in a Generation”, Orbit plans to eliminate PVC from it’s packaging by 2020 and for it’s packaging to be 100% recyclable by 2025. I usually have a pack of gum in my car just in case (you never know) so it makes me feel a whole lot better knowing that Orbit is working towards being a cleaner brand.
Pledge To Plant
Under the banner of #JustOneThing, the brand has launched a Pledge to Plant campaign which means that for every 10 fans that pledge their support for the campaign, Orbit will make a donation to Greenpop. To sign up and show your support, click on this link here.
They also had a cool art installation up at The Marc in Sandton that was created by the University of Johannesburg art students to create awareness. You can check my Instagram post here to see it. The cool thing about this art installation was that is was a visual representation of some of the plastic waste removed since the #JustOneThing campaign started.
Sustainable in a Generation
Through the global Sustainable in a Generation plan, three areas are being targeted. Namely Healthy Planet; Thriving People and Nourishing Wellbeing. The fact that Orbit wants its packaging to be 100% recyclable by 2025 is awesome. I wish more brands would jump on the bandwagon and commit to making changes.
