NuHuman Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis
At the beginning of March this year, I mentioned in this blog post that I had made the decision to join a private gym in my neighborhood called NuHuman. In just the short 3 months that I’ve been there, my whole outlook on health has changed!
I had originally researched NuHuman because I was interested in the science behind everything. I’ve been taking so many supplements but I wasn’t even sure if I was taking the right things. This led to me booking an appointment with one of the biohackers who explained their whole process to me. I’ll chat more about my actual experience at NuHuman. For now, though, I want to tell you a bit more about the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis. This is in case you are like me and what to know more about how to nourish your body with what it really needs.
.
What is HTMA?
The Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis offered at NuHuman is a screening test that measures levels of 21 minerals and toxic metals present in the sample of hair. Hair is used because it makes a great biopsy material to offer a ‘window’ into your cells. When NuHuman and I discussed doing the HTMA, I had just coloured my hair. So I had to wait a few weeks so that they could take a proper sample aka regrowth. Your hair functions as a pathway of mineral excretion and storage over a long-term period of approximately three months.
It takes a few weeks (3-5 weeks) for you to get your results back. Once you do, a biohacker from NuHuman sits and discusses each result with you. This is such a help as it puts it in perspective for you with how you live your everyday life.
My HTMA Results and Plan Of Action
If you had read my catch up blog post in March, you’ll know that the few first months of 2021 were really stressful. Plus, I am an anxious person that internalizes a lot of stress. So I knew this would show up in my analysis. What I truly wanted to know was, what was my body lacking? How could I nourish it the way it needed to be looked after? I had started eating well and exercising but the test helped me identify what I needed more of and what I needed less of.
While I won’t go too much into my analysis, I was definitely right about my stress levels and the factors it’s caused for my health. I also learned interesting things such as have a low sodium/potassium ratio; a low phosphorus level; a low zinc level and a copper imbalance.
The team at NuHuman is helping me to slowly correct my imbalances and get my levels right. It’s done in stages and you are guided at every step.
You can contact NuHuman to make a booking here. You can also follow along my NuHuman journey so far on my highlight on Instagram here!
