Thirty Flirty & Thriving
That’s the saying, right? Well, I’ll tell you what. I’ll take it. On Wednesday, a whole new chapter begun in my life. Thirty. A new decade. I chatted about how I felt about my timeline not being what I thought it would be here on this post. But for now, I want to chat a bit about how I intend to spend the first year in my thirties.
Say No/ Say Yes
This one is something I really need to work on. I need to start saying no to things that aren’t helping me move forward. No to people that don’t always have the best intentions for my energy. In the same breath, I need to also start saying yes to more things. Put myself out there more often. It’s a difficult balance I think.
Get Ready To Level Up
I’m definitely keen to work on this one. I’m ready to level up mentally; emotionally; financially; spiritually and energetically. I’ve got quite a few things coming up in this year ahead. Including moving into my new house (which also isn’t following the timeline hahaha). But I feel with this move, I won’t feel in limbo. It will be a new step. Time to put my big girl panties on and work hard towards paying off my bond. Setting time aside for myself and really focusing on self-care.
One of my favourite bloggers, Sivan Ayla, often expresses that at the end of the day you need to ask yourself what you’ve done to grow. What have you done to further your career; your brand; yourself? So I’ll be practicing this in order to level up.
Closing A Chapter
Turning thirty meant that I needed to reflect on my twenties. It was a whirlwind of a decade. Studying. Moving to Cape Town and working at a magazine. Moving back up to Pretoria. Working. Starting The Glam Green Girl. Changing jobs. Teaching art. Moving into my own place. Moving out while waiting for my new place. Love. Heartache. Trauma. Grief. Last but not least, following my passion for traveling. Best you believe this will continue in my thirties.
I think getting older, you start to know what you want, and what you don’t want. This relates to my career; love life; and my actual life itself. I know what I want and I have to set my goals to get there. It’s all part of the new chapter
What are some of the goals you’ve set for yourself after your birthday?
