Celebrated annually on the 22nd of April, the world comes together for Earth Day. Started in 1970, it now has over 190 countries engaged and 1 billion people taking part. I wanted to share a few tips with you on how you can play your part for Earth Day 2021.

1. The Three R’s

Reduce; Reuse & Recycle. This is my favourite step. Every small action counts. Each time you bring your own bags to the shops; your own takeaway coffee cup; say no to plastic straws. It all adds up. Check out second-hand shops for when you need new furniture – I’m always checking out Marketplace on Facebook. 2. Save Water

Nothing irritates me more than seeing people waste water. Especially when they leave the tap on while brushing their teeth. I’ve written about how I use buckets in my shower and kitchen sink to try save water but even the simple act of switching off the tap while lathering up your hair in the shower makes a difference. Water is so sacred and is a precious resource that we need to cherish.

3. Switch Your Search Engine

Want a simple tip that you can implement from the comfort of your own desk? Switch to Ecosia as your search engine. Yep, it’s that easy! Ecosia uses the ad revenue from your searches to plant trees where they are needed the most. Over 124 million trees have been planted so far – how incredible is that?

4. Shop Wisely

I’m trying to be more conscious of making better choices when it comes to shopping. I’m grateful for my partnership with Wellness Warehouse to learn about new brands that are kinder to my health and the planet. I also love hearing about local businesses from you, so please keep sharing with me. Another tip when shopping is to always take your reusable bag with you. I know it’s difficult to remember but once it’s a habit, you’ll never forget.

5. Plant Some Spekboom
