Sapienic Skincare – What is it About?
.
A few weeks ago, I was introduced to the Sapienic skincare brand. Their tagline is they are the 2nd best skincare routine in the world. Now, you might think that’s quite bold, but once you learn about the brand and its focus, you can understand why they say that.
Sapienic explains that our modern lifestyles mean we have 30% less microbial diversity in our skin than we did 100 years ago, causing skin inflammation and sensitivity. In a perfect world for Sapienic, we would use no products on our skin and we’d be in constant, intimate contact with nature. Unfortunately, we all know that’s not possible.
Sapienic has developed a minimalist range of microbiome skincare products tailored for people living in cities. Their goal is to rebuild your skin’s natural resilience. They have a 3 step routine, aimed at simplifying your skincare.
ps: Sapienic products are certified organic, carbon-neutral, plastic neutral, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Probiotic Mist
.
The first step in your routine is to protect. This is done by misting your skin every morning with this spray. I’ve become such a fan of using it in the morning, I even use it sometimes during the day when I feel my skin just needs a bit of a boost. This Probiotic Mist is made to help protect your skin. It’s a two-part product containing a glass vial of live probiotics and a glass spray bottle containing buffer solution and prebiotics. This mist contains 10 million live probiotics per ml. It retails for R580.00 and should last at least 40 days. Please remember to use the product within 3 months of adding the probiotics though.

Prime Lipids & Prime Serum
.
The Prime Lipids is the first step in moisturising your skin. After cleansing your skin (Sapienic has this makeup remover available) you will use your Prime Lipids Serum. This facial oil gives anti-wrinkle support and boosts firmness. It contains pure Ximenia oil with proven anti-aging results to boost skin firmness and elasticity, and fight wrinkles. This product also protects skin from irritants and reduces sensitivity. It forms part of a 2 step process though.
Lipid phase (step 1) with oil-soluble actives and a Serum phase (step 2) with water-soluble actives. Take the Prime Lipids and pump it into the palm of your hand. Then add Sapienic Prime Serum and mix. You will see a creamy texture starting to form and can then apply to your face. In summer you would only use two or three drops of Lipids, but in mid-winter, you might need eight or nine. The amount of serum is a constant two pumps.
The Prime Serum is a Hyaluronic moisture boost that drives facial oils into aging, sensitive skin. It contains water-soluble actives including GABA, Hyaluronic acid, probiotic lysates, and prebiotics. I actually prefer the consistency of the serum compared to the lipids and sometimes use this product on its own.
