My Current Favourites – Lockdown Edition
I enjoyed putting the previous edition of my current favourites at the end of January and was hoping to include some new places to go visit etc in my next one but seems the pandemic has a different idea haha. Nevertheless, I’m chatting about some of my favourite products and items that I’ve been enjoying the past few weeks while we’ve been staying at home.

Dr. Hauschka Daily Hydrating Eye Cream & Lip Balm
First up we have these two favourites from Dr. Hauschka. I’ve really been focusing on skincare during this lockdown as I feel it’s the perfect time to give your skin that extra bit of TLC and both these products have been so great to test out.
The Daily Hydrating Eye Cream is lightweight and hasn’t irritated my eyes at all (they are super-sensitive). The packaging makes it easy to use just the tiny amount needed. The ingredients such as calendula, pineapple and marshmallow (yes marshmallows) help smooth out the appearance of fine lines. While the rose distillate, blended avocado, macadamia nut and sea buckthorn oils help to moisturize, nourish and tone. This eye cream retails for R782.00 online here. If you are looking for a richer one, have a look at their Regenerating Eye Cream here.
I can already tell that the Lip Balm is going to be my best friend this winter. I can feel my skin getting so dry with the change of season as we gear up for winter. This Lip Balm has that amazing floral scent from Dr. Hauschka that I love so much. It feels so nourishing thanks to the Calendula and St. John’s wort. Like the eye cream, a little bit of this balm goes a long way. I have it next to my bed to give my lips a treatment at night. This lip balm retails for R251.00 online here.

Pillow Spray by Masquerade
Sticking to bedtime treats, this pillow spray from Masquerade is amazing! I received it as a gift from a family friend and I usually spray it on my linen when I’ve changed it or I spray a bit on my pillows before I get ready for bed as I absolutely love the scent. I’ve got the Medici Rose fragrance which is made with fragrance oil from France (you guys know how much I love the rose scent) but you can also get the Franschhoek lavender which is made with essential oil from Franschhoek. I think next time I’m down in Franschhoek I’ll pick up a bottle of that as I think it will be so good for my nerves. While you can visit the shop in Franschhoek, you can also shop online with them. This pillow spray retails for R80.00
PS: want to read about my last trip to Franschhoek? Pop over to my post on Maison Montagne here.

LCN Regenerating Luminous Skin Mask
As I mentioned earlier in this post, I’m all about skincare during this lockdown and I fell in love with this Regenerating Luminous Skin Mask the first time I used it! The lovely team at LCN Aesthetic Beauty Spa in Shere recommend this mask to me to help with my eczema on my forehead. The active ingredient of white clay effectively removes impurities and provides a fresh and radiant complexion.
The best part about this mask is that you can either use it as a mask and leave it on for 10-15 minutes or you can use it overnigh which is my favourite way to use it. Even though this product was kindly gifted to me, I would gladly purchase it – that’s how much I love it! Plus R392.00 is really not badly priced as you can double up on it as a mask or as a night cream.

The Last Widow by Karin Slaughter
I haven’t been so excited by a book in a while. It’s definite one of my favourites and I can’t wait to read more by her. This book gripped me from the first page! It’s fast-paced and has a great action element to it. “Medical examiner Sara Linton and her partner Will Trent, an investigator with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, rush to the scene—and into the heart of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to destroy thousands of innocent lives. When the assailants abduct Sara, Will goes undercover to save her and prevent a massacr. Putting his own life on the line for the woman and the country he loves.“
I really enjoyed Karin’s style of writing, you just keep turning the page wanting to devour more. So I will definitely be buying more of her books. You can order the book from Exclusive Books here and read a bit more about it. I don’t want to give away too much.

Gabriela Hair Grip from Superbalist
Last but not least and not really an exciting item but something I’ve been using even more during the lockdown. This Gabriela Hair Grip was one of those purchases where you need to add to your cart instead of paying for delivery. Let me tell you, it’s been so handy! I prefer just clipping up my hair when I’m at home and at least this clip is visually pleasing. Plus it manages to keep my hair up so that’s another reason why it’s become one of my favourites!
