[BEAUTY]: Currently Testing – October 2019 Part 2

Second Part of What’s On My Beauty Desk

It’s time for Part 2 of my Currently Testing October edition but if you missed Part 1, you can just click here. So seeing as it’s the day of October, there is just enough time for me to post the second part.

New In From REN

It’s not often that I receive a press drop and use that product immediately. I’m quite pedantic when it comes to photographing the items that I receive but I could not resist trying them out.

First up we have the Clearcalm Non-Drying Spot Treatment which I used on my chin. I’ve got a few pimples there from that time of the month. This product is designed to reduce redness and spot size. Now I can’t say straight away if it helped, but I had one that felt like it was never going away. I ended up squeezing it out. TMI I know, and I hardly squeeze pimples but I applied this again on that area and it brought the redness down. I’ve now got a new friend on my chin but in a different spot. So I’ll be seeing if it helps with that one. This little tube retails for R290.00 and you only need a tiny bit.

Next, we have the AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum. Victoria from Kiss, Blush and Tell has this great blog post up on exfoliation which helps a lot when you are trying to understand physical vs chemical exfoliation. As well as what AHA exactly is. BTW, it stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acids. I was expecting a gel-like serum that would tingle once applied but I didn’t find this to be the case at all. It applies as easily as a body lotion and your skin feels amazing afterward.

It contains Lactic Acid (AHA) from Yeast which creates the exfoliating action and helps to eliminate dead skin cells. A Probiotic extract helps reinforce your skin’s natural barrier as well as Xylitol from Vegetable Bark which helps optimise skin water reserves leading to better hydration. This body serum retails for R750.003

LCN Blueberry Lip Scrub

Clearly I have a bit of a thing for scrubs at the moment in Part 2 of this post. This blueberry sugar scrub is perfect for at the end of the day when you’ve removed your matte liquid lipstick or when your lips are feeling dry. It smells amazing too! Available for R295.00 from LCN stockists.

Justine Midnight Fragrance

A fragrance created to reveal your innermost desires to the night. One of the newer ones from Justine was kindly gifted to me. This fragrance has top notes of Anise, Almond, and Coconut. Heart Notes include Orange Flower, Jasmine and Heliotrope while the base Notes: Vanilla, Sandalwood, Moss. The regular price is R365.00 but I see it’s currently marked down to R285.00 online here.

Seems Part 2 is filled with products that I immediately tested upon receiving them when they were kindly sent to me. This is a night cream with growth factor peptide and Hyaluronic acid that combats prematurely-aging skin conditions while it repairs and protects. I find this product to be extremely hydrating thanks to the Hyaluronic acids. My only issue is that it’s quite a runny consistency so I think a pump bottle would be a better packaging option as I feel too much of the product runs out from the tube. This night cream is only R225.00 for the tube and 100% worth it in my opinion. You can also read a bit more about the natural ingredients used here.

Davines Energizing Shampoo

This is another one of my purchases from when I visit Carlton (last time was this Davines LOVE shampoo which definitely does help with the frizz). This shampoo was created to treat thinning and breakage-prone hair. It stimulates circulation using caffeine phytoceuticals and improves hair elasticity, preventing loss.

I haven’t used this one yet as I hate having 20000 half-full bottles in my shower but I’m struggling with my scalp (I mentioned on my Instagram that my eczema has flared up on my scalp). After reading some of the reviews of this product on the Davines website, this shampoo might actually help my scalp so I might give it a test sooner then I thought. Plus some people have mentioned it helps with hair growth and I feel like my hair is taking forever to grow. I can’t remember the exact price but I’m guestimating it was about R225.00.

Let me know if there are any questions you have on any of these products?
