I will admit that this post was originally meant for April, it ended up being pushed to May. Between the public holidays and work, it’s been a bit busy over here on this side. Nevertheless, let’s dive into what I’m currently testing in May.
Wet n Wild
First up, we have the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Pressed Powder. I already use the foundation and concealer so I thought I’d add the powder to my collection. I usually use a large powder brush (this one) to apply my powder but I’ve found that using a smaller and more densely packed brush is better with this fine powder. I apply it over my foundation to help reduce shiny spots. It lasts longer on my skin than other powders I’ve tried so I’ll probably repurchase it. I got it at Clicks for R99.95.
This was a fail purchase, to be honest. The Essence Mosaic Compact Powder in the shade SunKissed is basically like applying a bronzer with a heavy hand all over your face. I am way too fair skinned. So I won’t be repurchasing this one. R59.95 from Clicks.
Obviously as soon as the new Game Of Thrones collection from Urban Decay was released I bought some online. It’s already sold out! I’m so happy I managed to get my hands on the 2 lipsticks and eyeliner I wanted. I didn’t purchase the palette as it was out of my budget, and I didn’t need another highlighter palette (even though I really wanted it).
Staying true to my top lip colour, a nude, I had to get “Sansa Stark” which is warm peach nude. I couldn’t resist getting the metallic bronze “Cersei Lannister” which is basically the same as “Scorched” which was part of the Heat Collection.
Lastly, I bought “Lannister Gold” which is a pale gold eyeliner – LOVE this one! I wish I had bought “Dragon Smoke” as well.
If you follow me on Instagram , you’ll notice that I joke around a lot about basically being 100% dry shampoo as I always use it. Apart from being in a routine of only washing my hair twice a week maximum, I also do this to play my part in saving water. I shower with a bucket in my shower and then use that water to flush my toilet. So to be introduced to a brand that aligns itself with those beliefs is awesome! This brand was inspired by and co-designed with women in Cape Town. The colour scheme even matches with the Bo-Kaap houses in the Cape.
WATERL<SS kindly sent me some travel sized products to test out and I’ll definitely be packing them for my upcoming trips. My favourite so far out of these 3 products is the “WHIPPED CLEAN” which is an ultra light-weight foam for fine to normal hair.
Prices range from R69,99 to R149,00 for the different sized bottles and is available at selected Clicks stores.
Yorba Organics is a new brand that I’ve been introduced to and they kindly sent me a few products to test out. It’s a locally produced, organic, 100% natural formula personal care brand. All products are made from unique, organically traced, and sustainably sourced ingredients. The offer products for the whole family. I think this body lotion will be a blessing in the colder months with it’s easy to pump action. I’m looking forward to trying out the exfoliating clay wash as well.
For prices, products and stockists you can visit their website here.
I’ve always been a huge fan of REN products. So I gladly accepted when they asked if they could send me some products to test. I’m going to be using the “Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic” which is gentle to be used every day yet is an effective, skin-resurfacing toner will exfoliate and brighten your complexion. The Tonic retails for R565.00 for 250ml and is available at Woolworths or online here. I’m probably going to pack this Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist in my bag for London, I think it will be perfect as it’s meant to instantly shields and protect against harmful pollutants. Price TBC
